TALK
Code Health Guardian: The Old-New Role of a Human Software Engineer in the AI Era
What if a speaker didn't just talk about AI wearables — but wore them live on stage? This talk ditches the slide deck to let the technology speak for itself. Using open-source Mentra Live AI smart glasses, the entire presentation is driven by voice commands and real-time camera AI — no screen-tapping required.
The audience watches AI work in real time: object recognition, instant language translation with a volunteer, a first-person live stream, and an AI-augmented Q&A where the glasses whisper supporting data to the presenter.
Behind the spectacle is a genuine UX story. Built during a research and prototyping sprint with ISEP Porto students, this talk shares lessons on designing for voice-first and screen-free interaction — a paradigm shift as the smart glasses market is projected to grow from 6 million units in 2025 to 45 million by 2027. You will leave knowing what ambient AI feels like because you just experienced it.
