TALK
AI & Social Acceleration: Why are we faster yet falling behind?
Every paradigm shift in computing resets our relationship with time, labor, and craft. As AI accelerates technical execution, we are experiencing what sociologist Hartmut Rosa defines as social acceleration: a dynamic in which faster tools compress and saturate time rather than free it.
We stand at a critical fork in the road: will we default to using AI for accelerated extraction from our engineering teams, or will we actively steer this inflection point toward the democratization of skills and the restoration of meaning?
Grounded in Rosa’s framework of acceleration versus resonance, this session moves beyond reactive fear into action. In a world that feels topsy-turvy, we will sensitize ourselves to meaningful shifts. We will also discuss techniques for amplifying the skills needed in the AI era.
