ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Malte Burkert co-founded WAPP in 2012, growing it into a 20-person digital agency in Bielefeld and Dortmund with 100+ projects for clients like Häcker Küchen and German federal authorities. In 2024 he co-founded CAST ME, a casting platform connecting ~20,000 talents and producers. In February 2025 he launched ProduQt, WAPP's first SaaS product. Since Claude Code went public in early 2025, he's been rewiring how his team builds software around agentic workflows.

TALK

We Made Our Agency Agentic — and Almost Made Ourselves Obsolete

Eighteen months ago WAPP was a normal 19-person agency: billable hours, fixed-price quotes, legacy and new projects. Then we went all-in on agentic engineering — and almost made ourselves obsolete.

The shipping speed was real. So was the disruption. Our review queue ate a sprint. We ate a fixed-price quote. Every working agreement we had — how we estimate, what our processes look like, how we review — broke and had to be rebuilt around agents instead of keystrokes. And we had to explain to clients why “faster” isn’t automatically “cheaper.”

This is the honest postmortem from the CEO’s chair — what agentic engineering did to our processes, our pricing and our team’s identity, not just our velocity. No vendor pitch, no 10x-developer slides. Real numbers from a small team that broke a few things, fixed most of them, and figured out — just in time — how it actually wanted to work.
