TALK
From my Garden to the Stratosphere — How I nearly lost a GPU at 37 km
I put a GPU in a styrofoam box and sent it 37 kilometers up - into the stratosphere, above 99% of the atmosphere, into an environment with no SSH, no reboot button, and no second attempt.
This is the story of that flight: from the first naïve idea, through building self-healing on-board software and testing it in the freezer, to the launch day when everything I’d planned for met everything I hadn’t.
Expect original footage of the earth from above, real telemetry, and the moments when you have no idea if you’ll ever see your GPU again.
