TALK

NAT Gateway to Net Savings: How OTTO saved $500k with IPv6

This presentation explores OTTO’s innovative approach to cloud cost optimization through the implementation of dual-stack IPv6. We'll discuss how OTTO identified significant expenses related to NAT Gateway usage in AWS and developed a strategic solution using IPv6. The talk will cover the technical aspects of the migration, including VPC configuration, security considerations, and challenges encountered. We'll also delve into the organizational impact, highlighting how this initiative not only resulted in substantial cost savings—over $500,000 annually—but also fostered a more cost-conscious culture across development teams. Attendees will gain insights into the potential of IPv6 for cloud cost reduction and learn practical steps for implementing similar strategies in their own organizations.
