ABOUT THE SPEAKER
I am Platform Lead at encentive, building software that turns industrial energy flexibility into automated optimization. Before that, I led engineering at RECUP, worked as Head of Engineering and architect at SDA Open Industry Solutions, and spent many years at IBM in frontend architecture and digital experience. I enjoy connecting product, architecture and team reality, including aspects that no diagram shows.
TALK
The Customer Didn’t Want AI. They Wanted a Number They Could Trust.
AI in the engine room sounds like the kind of sentence that belongs on a conference slide. For us at encentive, it is quite literal: we use software to optimize industrial energy systems. But the hard question was not how to optimize the machine but how to prove what has changed when doing so.
This talk walks through the messy path from impact claim to number that customers will trust. First, customer demand a benchmark – in other words, what are potential savings compared to. Then the baseline starts moving, because key parameters – in our case weather, production, energy prices and the optimization itself – keep changing the story. Finally, we turn KPI thinking into a performance page that customers can use.
It is a practical inside story about baselines, CO2, euros, counterfactuals and the awkward moment when your impact is real. Bringing AI into the engine room is only half the job. The other half is about building numbers that people trust.
