TALK
Taming Modularity: A Practical Design Model for the AI Era
Modularity has been software design's holy grail since the 1960s ...and we've been failing at it for just as long: OOP, design patterns, architectural styles, SOA, microservices. None of them delivered on the promise, and some quietly made things worse. AI-assisted engineering just raised the stakes. Your codebase isn't only what your team reads anymore; it's the context your coding agent loads on every task. Good modularity multiplies your team's velocity and your agent's accuracy. Bad modularity multiplies the pain, for humans and robots alike. Modular design is a strategic investment of the AI era. Join this talk to learn why decades of modularity efforts have fallen short, and to take home a practical design model for evaluating, fixing, and finally taming the modularity of your own codebase. Your robot friends will thank you.
